বুধবার (১২ জুলাই) দুপুরে সিলেট সার্কিট হাউজে সিলেট বিভাগে কর্মরত মৎস্য অধিদপ্তর ও প্রাণিসম্পদ অধিদপ্তরের কর্মকর্তাদের সাথে মতবিনিময় সভায় প্রধান অতিথির বক্তব্যে মন্ত্রী এ আশাবাদ ব্যক্ত করেন।
সিলেটের অতিরিক্ত জেলা প্রশাসক মোহাম্মদ মোবারক হোসেনের সভাপতিত্বে মতবিনিময় সভায় মৎস্য ও প্রাণিসম্পদ মন্ত্রণালয়ের যুগ্ম সচিব মো. হেমায়েত হোসেন, মৎস্য অধিদপ্তরের মহাপরিচালক খ. মাহবুবুল হক ও প্রাণিসম্পদ অধিদপ্তরের মহাপরিচালক ডা. মো. এমদাদুল হক তালুকদার বিশেষ অতিথি হিসেবে উপস্থিত ছিলেন।
সিলেট বিভাগীয় প্রাণিসম্পদ দপ্তরের পরিচালক ডা. মো. মারুফ হাসান, সিলেট বিভাগীয় মৎস্য দপ্তরের উপপরিচালক মো. আনোয়ার হোসেন এবং সিলেট বিভাগে কর্মরত মৎস্য অধিদপ্তর ও প্রাণিসম্পদ অধিদপ্তরের কর্মকর্তাগণ এ সময় উপস্থিত ছিলেন। এ সময় মন্ত্রী আরও বলেন, প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনার প্রত্যয়ের স্মার্ট বাংলাদেশ বিনির্মাণে মৎস্য ও প্রাণিসম্পদ মন্ত্রণালয়ের আওতাধীন মৎস্য ও প্রাণিসম্পদ অধিদপ্তরকে এগিয়ে থাকতে হবে।
এ অধিদপ্তরের কর্মকর্তাদের স্মার্ট ভূমিকা রাখতে হবে, স্মার্ট অর্জন করে দেখাতে হবে। তাদের স্মার্ট লক্ষ্য রাখতে হবে এবং স্মার্ট লক্ষ্য অর্জনে উপযুক্ত পরিকল্পনা নিতে হবে। সর্বোপরি দেশের উন্নয়ন অগ্রযাত্রায় মৎস্য ও প্রাণিসম্পদ খাত থেকে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা রাখতে হবে। মন্ত্রী যোগ করেন, দেশে প্রাণিসম্পদ উৎপাদনে স্বয়ংসম্পূর্ণতা এসেছে। মাছের উৎপাদনে স্বয়ংসম্পূর্ণতা এসেছে। এ খাত আমাদের জন্য অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। এ খাত থেকে খাবারের বড় একটি অংশের যোগান আসে, প্রাণিজ আমিষের চাহিদা পূরণ হচ্ছে। খাদ্য ও পুষ্টির চাহিদা মেটাচ্ছে এ খাত। এ খাত থেকে বিভিন্ন পণ্য বিদেশে রপ্তানি করে বৈদেশিক মুদ্রা অর্জন করা সম্ভব হচ্ছে।
মন্ত্রী বলেন, জাতির পিতা বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমান স্বাধীন দেশের উন্নয়নে মৎস্য ও প্রাণিসম্পদ খাতে গুরুত্ব দিয়েছিলেন। এ ধারাবাহিকতায় প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনাও দেশের মৎস্য ও প্রাণিসম্পদ খাতের উন্নয়নে সর্বোচ্চ গুরুত্ব দেন। তিনি বলেন, বাংলাদেশ অপার সম্ভাবনার সুন্দর একটি দেশ। এ দেশের প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনা দেশের উন্নয়নে অপ্রতিরোধ্য গতিতে কাজ করেন।
দেশের উন্নয়নে মৎস্য ও প্রাণিসম্পদ অধিদপ্তরের কর্মকর্তাদের নিরলসভাবে কাজ করতে হবে। প্রধানমন্ত্রী শেখ হাসিনার উন্নয়নের সারথি হতে হবে। রাষ্ট্রের প্রয়োজনে যার যতটুকু দায়িত্ব আছে তা আন্তরিকতা ও একাগ্রতার সাথে পালন করতে হবে। সম্মিলিতভাবে দেশের উন্নয়নে সকলকে ভূমিকা রাখতে হবে।
সিলেট অঞ্চলের মৎস্য ও প্রাণিসম্পদ খাতের উন্নয়নে অনেক উন্নয়ন প্রকল্প প্রক্রিয়াধীন আছে উল্লেখ করে এ অঞ্চলের মৎস্য ও প্রাণিসম্পদ খাতের উন্নয়নে বিশেষ গুরুত্ব দেয়া হবে বলেও এ সময় আশ্বস্ত করেন মন্ত্রী।
